A Comment on Railways making tougher rules for cancellation and refund of tickets

My Comment on an article "Cancellation of rail tickets gets tougher" published in the economictimes.com Dated 07/11/2015 at 10 pm.


"The move being taken by Railways may be aimed with some good intention to curb malpractices and black marketeering. 

But, the real sufferers can be genuine passengers who might miss the train due to some unavoidable circumstances. Most of the train passengers belong to middle class and poor income category. So, if they miss the train and have to forego all the money, it will be a severe blow to their economic position. 

Government should adopt some other ways of curbing malpractices instead of introducing these new rules regarding cancellation and refund fees of tickets."

A Comment on Changes in Rules for Tatkal Booking with regard to identity proof

My Comment on an article titled "Railways modifies identity proof rules for Tatkal travellers" published in the economictimes.com Dated 28/07/2015 at 10 pm.  


"This is a very  good amendment in the rules for Tatkal bookings. 

Now bookings can be done very easily and quickly on net as you need not provide id proof while booking. 

Only you need to keep any one of the identity proofs with you in original while travelling. 

And when you are in a group of passengers, then, only one person of that group is required to produce the proof of identity which is truly a very great relief to the travellers."

	''Very tragic and horrible. Inspite of repeated such incidents, Railways have not learnt to take preventive measures. Either they are careless or inefficient. Something must be done on topmost priority to prevent such incidents by hiring efficient staff and using advanced technology.''

A Comment on Government allowing FDI in Railroad sector

My Comment on an article "Railroad stocks surge by upto 13% on reports govt. may allow FDI in the sector" published in the Economic Times dated 30/12/2013 at 4:30 pm.


A good development. Foreign investment in Railway sector can uplift its deteriorating financial conditions. Railway Budgets are proposed year after year with increasing fares and tariffs in the hope that some miracle may happen to reverse its losses into profits. But we realise nothing like that happens.

	''Very sad news. Why such fire accidents are taking place? Short circuits can be due to lose wirings or defective connections. Railways should take more care in ensuring the safety of all electrical wirings and appliances in the coaches.''

A Comment On Railway Fare Hike Published in Economic Times

My Comment on an article in The Economic Times dated 10/01/2013- "Opposition Demands Immediate Roll Back Of Rail Fare Hike" :

Fare hike is reasonable and one should think in terms of losses occurred to Railways all these years. If a small hike in fare reduces the loss to a certain extent and makes Railways economically stronger and better to serve you, you should not oppose the fare hike which is not too much.
