Decorum of Language and Media

Today's Deccan Chronicle dated 16 April 2018 sported a peculiar headliner (see the last page numbered 14)- "Saina is pure Gold".

What a childish, senseless heading!!!

What does it mean?
Pure Gold and Fake or Impure Gold?

The author of that post must have been too much excited and lost his sense of humor or even the wit.

He could have simply stated Saina is Gold or Saina wins Gold.

Overstating anything can hurt the sentiments of other participants and people.

An elite newspaper's editors (like Deccan Chronicle) are expected to be more prudent.

I love this newspaper very much for its editorials and featured columns. But, I get disappointed at such minor basic mistakes committed due to over-excitement.

A Comment on India's success at Commonwealth Games, 2014

My Comment on an article "Commonwealth Games 2014: India celebrates Parupalli Kashyap's historic gold, finishes fifth at CWG" published in the Economic Times dated 04/08/2014
at 5:12 pm.

"Congrats to India for achieving and maintaining the 5th position in medal tally.

All of them performed very well including the hockey team.

But a little bit sorry for Gagan Narang, who was unable to satisfy upto our expectations."
