My Comment on an article "Power bill to double from April 1st as subsidy ends on March 31st" published in the Economic Times dated 22/02/2014 at 12:55 pm.


"For 3, 4 months they enjoyed the subsidy. At least that much has been done by Kejriwal government. 

One more thing is to arrange for the audit of power companies. If the audit gets done sincerely without government's intervention, the results may bring some changes in the rates of power tariff.

Let us wait and see what happens."

"Something serious to be done to bring out efficiency and lower tariff costs in power generating plants. 

There should be lower cost techniques along with commitment for efficiency and increased production combined with low cost inputs and honesty. 

Further, consumption should also be controlled with some strict determination by people to not to use power unnecessarily and carelessly. This can improve the conditions."

A Comment on Power companies increasing tariff in Delhi

Power companies are increasing the tariffs in all states. It is not a new thing. 

Auditing should be done by CAG in all states to look at the real position of these companies. Only after the outcome of Audit results can we arrive at some conclusions regarding whether they are justified or not in increasing the rates.

But the happenings like stone pelting, throwing away barricades and violence were not good. People involved in such acts should be punished.''

Whatever the case may be, auditing should be done and then only something can be concluded. 

They should cooperate in conducting the audit fairly and should not hinder it. The sooner the audit gets done, the better will be their claim. Till then the discoms should wait and cooperate with Kejriwal government.
