My comment on an article "Rangarajan panel report on methodology for poverty estimation on July 1" published in the Economic Times.com on 27/06/2014 at 11 pm.
"It is very awkward to know that one with income above Rs.27 in village or Rs.33 in city is above poverty level.
What can he purchase in that amount? Whether half kg. Rice costing 25/- or one milk pouch of 500 ml. costing 22/-?
What about other requirements? Does he not need dal or pulses, vegetables, oil, salt and masala, soaps and detergents?
What about clothing? Will he remain without clothes? Very silly statistics."
