A Comment on Small savings rate cut and relating it with inflation

My Comment on an article " Small savings rate cut: Who gains, who loses" published in the economictimes.com Dated 29/03/2016 at 3:30 pm.

"I wonder how do you say the inflation rate has fallen in recent periods, whereas the most essential commodities like rice and pulses are skyrocketing.

The basic food we eat in India is rice which is at Rs.50 per kg. or even more. The toor dal is at Rs. 240 per kg. Other essential items which are required for good nutrition are also very high priced.

So, how is it possible that inflation can be low? Isn't it like baffling the public by showing a mirage and telling them "there it is the water pond; go and quench your thirst"".

A Comment on rate cuts and economy

My Comment on an article " Market indecisive? Top eight sectors where you can scour for value bets" published in the economictimes.com Dated 01/10/2015

"To speak the truth, there is really no honey in this money play.

Rate cuts are only elusive when think about the way inflation has been growing each year. The real inflation pictures are not depicted in the charts.

Our common man can know better what all this means. The growth in income by way of returns for produce or through salaries or wages is nominal when compared to real inflation in cost of living. So the consumer actually receives no benefit as he has to pay always extra from his pockets."

A Comment on reports that Inflation is at multi-year lows

My Comment on an article "Inflation at multi-year lows but RBI's Rajan didn't cut rates" published in the economictimes.com Dated 02/12/2014 at 3:20 pm.

"It is silly to say inflation has reduced. Where is the decrease in food grains, pulses and dairy products?

Short period reduction in vegetables and fuel prices can't be termed as decrease in inflation.

Real fall in inflation should result in decreased food cost, rents and transportation, etc. Then only can you tag it as fall in inflation."

A Comment on Deferment of LP Gas price hike

My Comment on an article "Cabinet defers decision on gas price hike by three months" published in the Economic Times. com Dated 25/06/2014 at 10:45 pm.

"A kind of seemingly relief to consumers for some more period.

But the actual effect of such underpricing and postponement of decisions is anti-economical for country.

These subsidies and lower priced supplies will rise the prices of all other commodities and give rise to inflation as a whole. This is not good in the long run"

A Comment on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's tackling of CAD & Inflation

My comment on an article "Eye on deficit, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley may not loosen purse strings" published in the Economic Times Dated 02/06/2014 at 10:45 am.

"There is a great work before him.

Good planning and implementation should take place concurrently. Plans without strict implementation is equal to nothing.

Continuous watch should be there over administration from top to bottom level. A good track of every action should be there under his control. Then only he can succeed in his goals."

A Comment on government refusing to link tax exemptions and slabs

My Comment in reply to a commenter who expressed his view that I am government employee and gathered much wealth as bribe.

"Don't be foolish and silly. Whoever comments unbiased should not be considered as an antagonist.

This is a very bad mentality of some people. They use abusive words and attacking words as if they are the only person concerned for the welfare of public and all others are enemies.

Be civilized and use some brain in understanding others' words. I was a poorly paid private employee and did not save even a penny for my sons. I am dependant on them now."

A Comment on linking of tax exemptions and slabs to inflation

My Comment on an article 'Government refuses to link tax exemptions and slabs to inflation, to charge higher taxes" published in the Economic Times dated 11/04/2014 at 12:40 pm.

"Is it not a double benefit to the taxpayer?

If you link inflation index with tax slabs and minimum exemption limits and accordingly apply differential slab applications for calculating the tax, it will be a double rebate to the taxpayer: once as an increased salary and again as an additional inflation rebate.

I do not think it to be reasonable from the point of Tax Department."

A Comment on RBI targets core inflation by hiking Rates

My Comment on an article "RBI is targeting core inflation by hiking rates: Nand Kumar Surti, JPMorgan AMC"
published in the Economic Times dated 31/01/2014 at 10:45 pm.

"How can we predict at better results for CPI on the base of current food prices?

Is it mere vegetable prices that decide CPI index?

Main food grains like rice, wheat and pulses, vegetable oils, etc. are far reachable to common man. Unless these prices are brought down, the economy is not in a good position from common man's point of view. So much is to be done by our policy makers to bring position under control."

A Comment on economic issues that RBI Governor needs to solve

My Comment on an article "Five economic issues that worry RBI governor Raghuram Rajan" published in the Economic Times dated 28/01/2014 at 1 pm.

"CRR should have been increased to curtail spending and inflation.

Consumers should prudently use their funds in spending on unnecessary purchases which can be postponed for a later stage. They should try to invest instead.

Wholesale inflation is also related to CPI and production and supply factors. Production of goods needs and supply needs improvement to meet demands."

A Comment on Wholesale Price Index coming down

My Comment on an article " WPI inflation eases to 5 month low of 6.16% in December" published in the Economic Times Dated 15/01/2014 at 4:24 pm.

"It is a known fact. Not any great thing happening.

If prices of rice, wheat, dal and edible oils come down, then we can be happy and celebrate the occasion."

A Comment on Travelling becoming Unaffordable

My Comment on an article titled "Lucknow, not London: Rupee, inflation keep Indian travellers home"  published in the Economic Times dated 25/12/2013 at 1:10 pm.

Really the travel costs are spiralling while incomes are more are less same. So there is no option but to keep home.

May be good and advantageous for our home travelling businesses. They can reap on the benefits that would have been otherwise diverted to foreign destinations.

Indian Tourism should offer some incentives to attract tourists with common man friendly simple packages. It can boost our tourism industry as well as accommodate low affording classes.

A Comment on "India in Stagflation"

A Comment on an article " India in stagflation, not crisis: Kenneth Rogoff, Harvard Economist" published in the Economic Times dated 23/12/2013 at 12:45 pm.

Very good article.

A beautifully coined word "stagflation".

That is where India is standing at present. Stuck in the midst of inflation. Not able to come out inspite of so many people talking so much of it.

A Comment on Vegetable prices and Inflation

My comment on an article titled "RBI says vegetable prices are falling sharply" published in Economic Times dated 18/12/2013 at 1:20 pm.

"May be true that vegetable prices have decreased to some extent recently.

But major food items like rice, wheat and pulses and oils are at stand still inflated rates since long. Their prices are not coming down.

Until these essential food items are available at some cheaper prices, you can not say prices are falling.'

A Comment on CRR and Repo rates revision by RBI

My Comment on an article titled "Raghuram Rajan meets P.Chidambaram ahead of monetary policy review" published in Economic Times dated 16/12/2013 at 4:10 pm.

"I think it is better to increase both CRR and repo rates by 50bps each this month itself to bring down available funds in market to lowest levels so that demand can decrease as against supply of goods. This can bring down the prices to some what extent."

A Comment on Impact of Elections on People

My comment on an article published in Economic Times "Elections 2014: Realty sector struggles with labour shortage" Dated 14/12/2013 at 11:15 am.

"General elections create many problems. This one is not so much important as compared to the many other serious problems posed by our people during election periods and aftermath.

Many projects get lingered and daily wagers do not find enough work to earn their living.

All government departments focus their attention on elections and other works get postponed.

After elections are over, the inflation flares up and all commodities go out of reach of common man. It may take much time to recover from the huge burden of elections."

A Comment on Advertising Rates paid to Channels and Inflation

My comment on an article in the economictimes.com Dated 6/11/2013 at 9:45 pm.

This also is one of the reasons for price inflation.

Advertisers pay heavy amounts for advertising their products and the same will get included in the prices of the commodities along with the making cost of the ad film.

This is very gross injustice on the part of governments, TV channels and business firms. Ultimately they are overburdening the poor common man with all costs. And they say Rs.30/- per day income is enough for feeding a person. What an irony!!!
