A Comment on Rangarajan panel and other panels defining Poverty Line

My comment on an article "Rangarajan panel report on methodology for poverty estimation on July 1" published in the Economic Times.com on 27/06/2014 at 11 pm.

"It is very awkward to know that one with income above Rs.27 in village or Rs.33 in city is above poverty level.

What can he purchase in that amount? Whether half kg. Rice costing 25/- or one milk pouch of 500 ml. costing 22/-?

What about other requirements? Does he not need dal or pulses, vegetables, oil, salt and masala, soaps and detergents?

What about clothing? Will he remain without clothes? Very silly statistics."

Your comment on the article ''14 killed, 15 injured in gas pipeline blast in Andhra Pradesh'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com Dated 27/06/2014 at 2:20 pm.

''Very sad to know.

Such tragic events should be prevented from occurring prior to happening.

The concerned authorities should have heeded to the complaints of villagers and replaced the pipelines. It is gross negligence on their part and needs enquiry and termination of the guilty.''

A Comment on Deferment of LP Gas price hike

My Comment on an article "Cabinet defers decision on gas price hike by three months" published in the Economic Times. com Dated 25/06/2014 at 10:45 pm.

"A kind of seemingly relief to consumers for some more period.

But the actual effect of such underpricing and postponement of decisions is anti-economical for country.

These subsidies and lower priced supplies will rise the prices of all other commodities and give rise to inflation as a whole. This is not good in the long run"

A Comment on Rajdhani Express derailment

My Comments on an article "Rajdhani Express derails near Chhapra in Bihar; Railway suspect 'sabotage' published in the Economic Times dated 25/06/2014 at 10:20 pm.

"The reasons behind the incidents of Rajdhani Express and other goods train should be deeply enquired and let known to public also who are the sufferers of such accidents very often.

Many cases of fire accidents, derailment and accidents are taking place nowadays. But the railways seems not learns from experiences.

The ultimate sufferers are passengers. Reasons should be analysed and solutions found out for future safety of railway journeys."

A Comment on How much insurance do you need

My Comment on an article "How much insurance do you need?" published in Economic Times Dated 24/06/2014 at 4:50 pm

"Very useful article with tables and illustrative charts.

The cover needed for 30 years individual with 40 lakh income is shown as 3 crores. But a person with 35-40 years in same income group is advised to have insurance for only 1 crore. Why so much difference in 5 years gap?"

Is it because he would have earned Rs. 2 crores in that 5 year gap? But he must have spent also much of it in those five years.

A Comment on Thyrocare considering IPO to allow investors exit

My Comment on an article "Thyrocare considering IPO to allow investors to exit" published in the Economic Times Dated 24/06/2014 at 2:20 pm.

"Why do the investors want to exit from the company?

It is a good company doing medical service with much popularity.

Anyhow, it is good to offer shares to public and encourage much public participation."

A Comment on releasing of gold coins to honour Sachin Tendulkar

My Comment on an article "East India Company rolls out special edition gold coins to honour Sachin Tendulkar" published in the Economic Times Dated 23/06/2014 at 5 pm.

"I never knew that East India Company still exists. Thanks for letting us know.

It is good to know that an Indian business man, Sanjeev Mehta is owning it. They are doing a great tribute to the cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar by releasing this gold coin.

But it is so costly. If it could have been a one Pound or 10 pounds coin, any common man and fan of Tendulkar could have collected it for his treasures."

A Comment on Modi effect requiring Govt. employees to be punctual

Your comment on the article ''Modi effect: Delhi government servants have to clock in on time, stay back late and even give up holidays'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com Dated 23/06/2014 at 1 pm.

''Good development. Punctuality and quick disposal of files are two most important things for any office.

It is good to know that Modi government is opting to this system.

But this should continue for ever with no pending work in store.''

A Comment on startups providing great services for medical treatments

My Comment on an article "Startups 'insider info' helps get cheap and good medical treatments" published in the Economic Times Dated 21/06/2014 at 10:05 pm.

"Wonderful ideas.

Startups are doing miracles with brilliant ideas.

Medical treatment is a field where patients require both quality and cheaper costs. Now they can get both these things with the help of these good samaritans.

A great social service and a very good business idea ventured out by these people. Wish them success."

A Comment on Nitin Gadkari's statement that LK Advani deserves to be President of India

My comment on an article "LK Advani deserves to be President of India: Nitin Gadkari" published in the Economic Times dated 21/06/2014 at 9:15 pm.

"Very unwarranted and irrelevant statements. Such statements should not be issued without any relevancy of time.

When the time comes for electing President of India, then only it matters, not now.

Regarding Amitabh Bachchan doing role of a hero, there is no comparison of politics with entertainment. If you compare, it means politics is entertainment. Amitabh Bachchan can do the role of hero even now with the same glamour and earn crores for Bollywood industry. He is evergreen hero.

But in politics, I think, people above 60 or utmost 65 should not occupy posts. They should make way for youngers voluntarily."

A Comment on imposing Hindi as social networking language

My Comment on an article "Non-Hindi speaking states protest over govt. move to use Hindi for social networking websites" published in the Economic Times Dated 21/06/2014 at 11:15 am.

"Each state government should be free to take decisions on their own keeping in mind the interests of their people.

Central government should not impose anything on them without their acceptance.

Each state has its own official language. Hindi and English are only supplementary."

A Comment on stocks of small size cement brands surging to 200% in 6 months

My Comment on an article "Stocks like JK Lakshmi Cement, Dalmia Bharat have given 200% returns in six months" published in the Economic Times dated 21/06/2014 at 11 am.

"The ever increasing demand for homes and colonies has made cement the most required item in present markets.

Naturally middle and small scale producers of cement meeting immediate requirements of those demands will shine in their business and their share prices will rise automatically."

A Comment on increase of railway fares

My Comment on an article, "Railways hikes passenger fares by 14.2% and freight rates by 6.5%" published in the Economic Times Dated 20/06/2014 at.5:30 pm.

"Why they are increasing the fares before the presentation of budget?

They could have spent another month as per existing fares to facilitate the summer rush."

The journey to "Achche Din" has become very costly for those poor chaps!!!

A Comment on Narendra Modi telling "tough measures in store"

My reply to a reader Ravi reacting that Modi promised 'achche din' in his election promises while replying on the article "PM Narendra Modi warns of tough measures on economic front".published in the Economic Times dated 17/06/2014 at 11:10 am.

"'Ache Din" (good times) will come only when we can control ourselves and think for the social goodness and for a secure future.

You should try to think in terms of long term goals and ideals instead of present hardships."

A Comment on trading on stocks and earning money without labour

My reply to a reader Vachchani remarking that "rich people make money without moving hands and fingers on stock markets" published in the Economic Times dated 17/06/2014 at 11am.

"It is a kind of using your diligence in investments.

Instead of investing your money in FDRs and other government bonds, you are investing it on stocks and shares in market. You should look at it as an investment with prudence. It is the fruits of your intelligence if you gain. Otherwise you may incur heavy losses.

So there should be no problem about this kind of trading."

A Comment on Narendra Modi using social media for governance

My Comment on an article  "Narendra Modi's tremendous reach on social media How the PM plans to use it for better governance" published in the Economic Times Dated 16/06/2014.

A Comment on Narendra Modi being active on social media

MY Comment on an article " PM Narendra Modi warns of tough measures on Economic front" published in the Economic Times Dated 16/06/2014

"Brilliant idea. To keep on active at social media is a very brilliant tool for being in touch with common man.

The previous government lacked this touch with common man.

We will also be in touch with his plans and actions and views constantly and he may also get ideas through interactiowith public."

A Comment on India Inc.CEOs going to Brazil to cheer FIFA teams

My Comment on an article "FIFA World Cup 2014: India Inc. CEOs to travel to Brazil & cheer their favourite teams" published in the Economic Times Dated 16/06 /2014 at 10:30 pm.

"Why not mention about so many millions of fans watching the FIFA world cup from their homes in India?

India Inc. CEOs can spend money or their companies may be sponsoring their travels. There is no great thing in it.

All fans are equal whether they personally attend or watch from distance. Both are cheering their favourites equally and both should get commendation."

A Comment on "Mission Toilet" to prevent rapes on women

Your comment on the article ''Mission toilet to curb rape'' is now displayed ontimesofindia.com Dated 16/06/2014 at 11 pm.

''A good decision and procedure adopted by DM Agra to facilitate women in villages attending their nature calls at deserted places.

Other states and all villages of India should follow this initiative and act accordingly to provide better sanitation facilities to people.

In addition to provision of toilets, the drainage system also should be improved by providing underground drainages all over the villages and towns. At most places, they are having mostly open drainages which smell badly and overflow during rainy seasons spreading diseases.''

My comment on an article "Freak tidal wave hits Mumbai" published on Economic Times dated 13/06/2014 at 6 pm.

A Comment on maintenance of weaker rupee

My Comment on an article "Open letter to RBI's Raghuram Rajan: Dear Governor,Let the rupee fall to 65" published in the Economic Times dated 12/06/2014 at 5:14 pm.                                                                                                                                                                                                         "A good representation to be seriously thought upon by all economists and RBI-Raghu Rajan.

But weakening the rupee should be got associated with curbing imports. There should be restrictions on imports.

If we go on depending on imports, there is no use in maintaining a weak rupee."

A Comment on alternate sources for irrigation if monsoon fails

My Comment on an article "Will Modi magic work to make India see sharper-than-expected recovery?" published in the Economic Times dated 12/06/2014 at 3:16 pm.

"One thing to concentrate is to evolve alternate sources of irrigation instead of depending on monsoons.

Our new government should look at this aspect very seriously. Proper utilisation of river and canal waters should be there.

Much water goes in wastage. That wasted water can be harvested through proper channelisation and utilised in farming. Other techniques like utilisation of sea waters for agriculture should be thought upon."

A Comment on making money with IT and Pharma stocks

My Comment on an article "Time to make money in defensives like IT, Pharma as market consolidates" published in the Economic Times dated 12/06/2014 at 3:15 pm.

A Comment on hanging of two teenage girls after raping and killing

Your comment on the article ''Cover-up? UP DGP says Badaun murders could be honour killing'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com dated 08/06/2014 at 10:44 am.

''What if only one girl was raped and the other not?

And what if the deaths are due to honour killing or family disputes?

Do you mean that they are right in harassing, raping and killing and hanging them? What is the meaning of such unwarranted statements?

Rape is a rape. Harassment is a harassment. Murdering is a murder. Hanging is hanging. All are crimes. Nobody should be spared even if they are parents, family members, relatives or whatever they may be. Everybody involved should be punished severely.''

A Comment on reducing business costs for boosting growth

My Comment on an article "Arun Jaitley underlines need to lower cost of business to up growth" published in the Economic Times dated 07/06/2014 at 10:10 pm.

"Cutting costs is a good thing if feasible. But it should not result in retrenchments.

There is already great unemployment. So it should not be increased.

Think over other costs of business which can be cut short by simplifying the processes. Like unnecessary engagement of idle office space with high costs of rentals only to highlight the show of offices."

A Comment on cleaning up of government departments

My comment on an article "Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth tells departments to identify archaic laws, curb decision making to maximum 4 layers" published in the Economics Times Dated 07/06/2014 at 9:55 pm.

Full overhauling of files and policies should take place. All unnecessary and wrong processes should be removed or cut short to suit circumstances.

Free flow of work with quick disposals should be there."

A Comment on continuance of DBT scheme for gas subsidy

My Comment on an article "Why Aadhar is needed for DBT" published in the Economic Times dated 07/06/2014 at 3:36 pm.

"It is a good decision. Crediting subsidy into accounts safeguards consumers' interests and prevents black marketeering. So our government should continue DBT system."

A Comment on protests and beating up of power staff in U.P.

Your comment on the article ''Thousands protest as heat wave prompts power cuts in Uttar Pradesh'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com Dated 07/06/2014 at 3:06 pm.

''Already there is shortage of power all over the country.

In hot summers it becomes too scarce because of use of millions of ACs and Exhaust fans and also due to drying up of power generating sources.

People should try to understand the problems of government and discoms in power supply. They can supply only the available power. So power cuts are normal tools to regulate and streamline the supply uniformly.

Creating violent scenes and beating employees can not bring more power to us.''

''What the hell is going on? Why some men are so crooked in their thoughts and acts?

Do they have no other business than longing for lust?

The other point is, how strangers entered her house surpassing security. It means security is not alert or not well trained. This should be considered seriously.

A Comment on Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha

Your comment on the article ''Mallikarjuna Kharge a surprise choice as leader of Congress in Lok Sabha'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com dated 03/06/2014 at 9:55 am.

''Kharge may be good choice.

But, we want Rahul Gandhi to actively participate as leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. He should not let down his supporters, who want some strong administration for the whole of the country.

Good governance can be possible only when strong opposition is there in parliament to discuss all issues before passing any bill or taking any action. So Rahul Gandhi should lead the opposition in the interests of the country.''

My comment on an article "Eye on deficit, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley may not loosen purse strings" published in the Economic Times Dated 02/06/2014 at 10:45 am.

"There is a great work before him.
