A Comment on Modi announcing lucky prizes to people adapting to digitalization

My Comment on an article "From tomorrow, Modi plays Santa in Kaun Banega Crorepati Scheme" published in the economictimes.com Dated 24/12/2016.

"This is a very good initiative being taken by our PM, Narendra Modi to allure people towards digitalisation. This move should promote wider awareness towards the digitalisation among people.

The public should adapt to new technologies of making transactions instead of clinging to the same old methods of paying in hard cash. Voluminous cash transactions lead to corruption and creation of black money. Further, they should refrain from paying bribes to middlemen in their transactions. "

When some reader commented that it will not promote awareness, I again replied as follows:

"Why not? Don't you take part in contests and quizzes? Many people love such things and try to check their luck in winning prizes."

A Comment that Modi should not be blamed for the present crisis after demonetization

My Comment on an article "Varanasi shows how Modi's demonetization gamble has broken the back of India's $1- trillion hidden economy" published in the economictimes.com Dated 22/12/2016.

" The author seems to attack the move of Modi by showcasing how the silk industry of Varanasi got affected severely due to demonetization of currency notes.

Even though the author tells us here that the actual labor in the unorganized sector of the silk industry did not receive their due share of their skills because of the bribes and commissions they had to incur at every change of hands of their produce, he is not focusing his attack at the underground malpractices of the corrupt people and system. Instead, it seems he is entirely blaming the demonetization of notes to be the root cause of the collapse of the economy.

The present situation would not have arisen if people were honest. It is due to this dishonesty and corrupt practices that we are suffering now. No one should blame Modi for this situation. It is our own creation that we are suffering now."

A Comment on why the Demonetization move did not yield fruitful results

My Comment on an article "View: Demonetisation and digital transactions will never stop corruption in India. Here's why" published in the economictimes.com Dated 21/12/2016 at 12:20 pm.

"The author of this article pointed out the lack of foresight and the inefficiency of concerned authorities in transforming the aim of demonetization into a successful project.

He clearly indicates here that mere demonetization can't end black money or the corrupt practices of the officials who daily involve in corrupt practices.

There should be some more strict measures to be taken by our PM, Narendra Modi, and the government to make the vision of eradication of corruption and the Digitalisation of India a successful project by locating the culprits and punishing them severely."

A Comment on Media and people discouraging public from going on-line

"Don't heed to people discouraging you".

My Comment on a slide show which tries to distract and discourage people regarding the after effects of demonetization. Post titled "Think going cashless is good for you? Here's why it is not - Drawbacks of digitalisation" published in the economictimes.com Dated 19/12/2016 at 5:20 pm.

"This author is trying to distract people by inculcating unnecessary fears. People should not heed to such discouraging posts. But, you should keep always alert while doing your transactions.

The best method to use is to open your savings account with any bank and get an ATM card. You can do all your transactions using that ATM card. No need for mobiles or smartphones. Cheer up yourselves."

A Comment on roping in Nandan Nilekani for development of apps for cashless transactions

My Comment on an article "Nandan Nilekani joins battle to map India's post-cash future" published in the economictimes.com Dated 08/12/2016.

"It is good to know that Nilekani has been roped in to help solve the problems faced in creating a cashless Indian.

But, whatever they do, I would like to say that they should develop one single common app for all transactions throughout India, whether it is a village or a city.

Perhaps either Paytm or UPI will be the better options available right now to meet all the requirements of public transactions. Or any new app may also be developed. But, let it be one single common app for all people of India."

A Comment on President Pranab Mukherjee's anguish at behaviour of our parliamentarians

My comment on an article "For God's sake do your job: President Pranab Mukherjee loses it on MPs stalling Parliament" published in the economictimes.com Dated 08/12/2016.

"An apt and needy message delivered by our President to our parliamentarians with a severe note.

It is very horrible to note that no business has been transacted during this winter session of the Parliament.

Our system has become like a herd of indisciplined people. They don't care for the development of their constituencies and always engage in wasting hours and even days of time in disrupting the proceedings of the houses. Do they know how much loss they are generating with their irresponsibility towards job?

It results in a last minute hasty decisions taken and passing of the bills without proper analysis and discussions held resulting in failures of projects and implementations."

A Comment on the after-effects of demonetization and tests ahead for PM Modi

My Comment on an article "For Narendra Modi, test lies in stage three of notebandi" published in the economictimes.com Dated 05/12/2016.

"The author of this article is arguing very reasonably and trying to point out the possibilities and problems ahead in near future.

According to him, there are 3 stages after demonetization.

We crossed the first stage of people supporting Narendra Modi in spite of the short-term troubles faced by them.

Now, we are in the second stage where we are threatened by economic dislocations, projected fall in GDP up to Rs. 1,50,000 crore, and may be facing a mini-recession period. This may turn the public against him.

The third stage will be when Modi's government puts some of the funds generated through declared black money and through undeposited demonetised currencies into the accounts of Jandhan Yojana account holders if everything goes according to estimates. This may again turn the public in his favor and support him.

But, let us hope for the best and try to support Modi with full cooperation as he is fighting for a common cause of the masses of our country. If possible, pray to God that he should succeed in his mission."

Hurdles in PM Modi's push for cashless economy and how to tackle the issues

My Comment on an article "5 hurdles to PM Modi's push for cashless economy" published in the economictimes.com Dated 05/12/2016.

"Even though these figures reveal a gloomy picture, we should not get discouraged or depressed in achieving the goal of turning Indian economy into a cashless economy. If one million POS machines can be installed within next 5 months as per expectations of our PM (let us assume that we can expect on a safer side even one lakh machines each month), it will definitely ease the transactions and we can move forward.

Public awareness creation is also very important in the mean time. All TV channels should launch awareness ads demonstrating the use of various apps available for making purchases and payments using the mobile phones or other computers. People should also go door to door in rural and semi-urban areas to reach the masses and make them aware of the usage of apps for making cashless transactions to meet out all their daily needs."

A Comment on Retailers still accepting old Demonetized Notes

My Comment on an article "Demonetisation: Retailers at popular shopping hubs still accepting old currency" published in retail.economictimes.com Dated 01/12/2016.

"It is for the benefit of the business to accept the old notes from their customers. It also serves as a good gesture to them in keeping their good relations in order to run their business uninterruptedly.

There is no need to worry, I hope, as they can deposit the old notes into their accounts up to 30th December 2016. Further, it is not a black money to them as they are earning it through their white business."

A Comment on mobs locking up Bankers due to non-availability of cash

My Comment on an article "Demonetisation: Mobs lock up Bankers as payday turns pain day for India" published in the economictimes.com Dated 30/11/2016.

"A suitable alternative app (e-wallet) should be designed to suit all types of people like the common man, the daily wage earner, the vegetable vendor, pan shop and every low-level category of people.

People should be able to pay everything through this type of app and each vendor should have that app for receiving the payments, even the smallest payments of Rs.10 or Rs. 5 also. Then only this problem can be solved."

A Comment on playing of National Anthem before start of movies in theatres

My Comment on an article "National Anthem must be played in theatres before movies, orders Supreme Court" published in the economictimes.com Dated 30/11/2016.

"It seems as if some order is passed for children in schools.

Our citizens are more grown up people and know the importance and mostly respect our Flag and National Anthem and are patriotic of their country. This patriotism is visible in their each act.

Then why this compulsion? And what is the point in playing the anthem before the start of a movie? It is not a public meeting expressing your solidarity or patriotism to the country. It is an entertainment hall for people to get some relief from the worries of daily tensions.

And, you must be aware that all people will not be present there punctually before a movie starts. Most of them arrive when it starts or even a few minutes after starting. So, the scenery will not be a pleasing one. Do you think it is good to see people moving around with noise and even in tension to reach their seats in the darkness while the national anthem is being played? Is it not a disgrace?

The national anthem used to be played at the end of movies or any other ceremonies. And, that was the wisest way to play the National Anthem and pay respect to your country. The theatre doors can be kept closed until the National Anthem is completed at the end of the movie."

A Comment on a nice option available to turn black money to white money through Amnesty scheme

My Comment on an article "How to avail amnesty scheme and turn Rs. One crore unaccounted cash into Rs.1.25 crore in 4 years" published in the economictimes.com Dated 29/11/2016.

"A nice article with some great advice to the hoarders of black of money.

But, I could not understand the concept of added value. Is it the value added to our economy?

You have already added the peace of mind and dignity value. So, there is no question of any additional value to be added to the person's wealth.

Then, it comes to Rs.1.05 crore value in all after 4 years. Even then, it is a better scheme for them than losing 85% as a penalty when caught red-handed. So, it is the best option available for black money holders."

A Comment on risks involved in moving towards cashless society

My Comment on an article "RSS wing to study Paytm ties with Alibaba" published in etretail.com on Dated 28/11/2016.

"It is really a great risk factor. People should be more careful now as they are going to use e-wallets more regularly than ever before. Any slightest slip can cause a great damage.

First of all, let the government confirm the authenticity and safety of these apps through a public notice to the people and guarantee against any loss incurred while using these apps. Then only we can subscribe to these apps and use them to bring a cashless society."

A Comment on Manmohan Singh and other opposition leaders criticising Modi on note ban

My Comment on an article " Is Modi proving Manmohan Singh right with a slew of U-turns on cash ban?" published in the economictimes.com dated 26/11/2016.

"Our PM, Modi's intentions are good in cleaning the economy from black money and corruption and in introducing a cashless society.

But, to achieve any goal you have to exert strain. Hardships will be there till you reach the goal. But, you should remain determined and move forward through those hardships to reach the goal and achieve success.

So, Modi should not get disturbed by all those comments of his criticisers. He should move forward with his goal."

A Comment on Kejriwal's demand for roll back of demonetization of currency notes

My Comment on an article published in the retail.economictimes.indiatimes.com titled "Arvind Kejriwal demands the rollback of demonetization" on 12/11/2016.

"The allegations made by Kejriwal are irrational and baseless.

If Bank deposits increased, it has become white money already and taxmen will take care of it.

Regarding purchase of Gold and foreign exchange, it will also come into the light in due course and the people are liable to account for it and pay taxes.

It is a win-win situation for the government, either way.

The brokers will also be got noticed as the Big Boss is watching them already."

A Comment on no cash available at ATMs and long queues awaiting at others

My Comment on an article "Going to the ATM today or tomorrow is a bad idea. Read why" published in the economictimes.com Dated 11/11/2016.

"It is a reality. I was wondering how could they fill up the ATMs with new notes at such a short notice. Even they have not emptied the old notes from them and even not configured them with new denominations of notes to be dispensed by the machines.

The Reserve Bank should have thought and planned much earlier.

We went to ATMs and returned back with most of them not open even till now. Out of the 6 ATMs in our proximity, only one ATM got cash today and it has a long queue since evening."

A Comment on PM Narendra Modi's bold step of declaring Rs.500, 1000 notes invalid

My Comment on an article "In an attempt to curb black money, PM Narendra Modi declares Rs.500, 1000 notes to be invalid with effect from midnight of 8/11/2016" published in economictimes.com Dated 9/11/2016.

"A bold decision was taken by our PM Narendra Modi. Now, the hoarders of cash have no way but to surrender their notes with Banks.

I hope this step will definitely give some fruitful results in capturing the black money hoarders and thereby improve our economy.

We should appreciate our PM's great decision and cooperate with him."

A Comment on PM Modi's proposal seeking public opinion on holding simultaneous polls

Your comment on the article ''PM Modi pushes for simultaneous polls, seeks public debate'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com Dated 04/11/2016 at 11:30 am.

''It will be a good idea. I have been considering this thought since long. The entire country should go to polls simultaneously in a single session. Both for Assembly and for Lok Sabha also. This will be an ideal initiative. This will make the elections more realistic and no state will get influenced by the results of other state''s polls as the results will be declared simultaneously after completion of the entire election process throughout the country. Time of administration and polling cost will also get reduced and attention of political leaders and public will also be there on polls only for a few days. So they can not waste time unnecessarily for longer durations.''

A Comment on the launching of India's regional flights at Rs.2500 per hour fare

My Comment on an article "India's first regional flight at Rs.2500 per hour fare may take off next year" published in the economictimes.com Dated 23/10/2016.

"I don't consider this scheme to be any great thing.

There have been many occasions, which are still practiced by many airlines, who charged Rs.2,500 or even a bit less amount for Hyd to Bangalore or Hyd to Chennai travel and vice-versa. So, this is not any new thing.

Further, it will not make travel easy or affordable to a common man for many other facts.

One has to spend 3 or 4 hours extra to reach the airports at the starting point and at the destination point and, he incurs at least Rs.1,000 towards cab or auto charges for the purpose."

A Comment on lowering of interest rates

My Comment on an article "RBI Governor Urjit Patel cuts interest rates, bats for growth in  first monetary policy" published in the economictimes.com Dated 05/10/2016 at 10:10 pm.

"Cutting the lending rates is a good move as it lowers the burden on borrowers.
Further, it boosts more and more investments in the production field as more loans will be opted to invest in businesses.

But, interest on savings accounts and investments intended for the welfare of lower income groups should not be decreased at any cost. On the other hand, they should be increased from the existing rates which are very low as compared to the rates offered a few years before.

Previously, it used to double your investment in 5 years (like FD or RD). Presently, there is no such scheme to get it doubled without taking risks."

A Comment on our Indian Army's surgical operations along LoC

My Comment on an article "4 hours, choppers, and 38 kills: How India avenged the Uri attack" published in the economictimes.com Dated 29/09/2016.

" "Congrats, Indian Army. You have done it so smartly, taking all risks."

Peace and patience of our Army have been considered as our weak points by these vicious elements all these years. So, telling them in their own language is essential.

Now, I wish those elements should behave properly."

A Comment on facing bullying in TV shows by celebs and other personalities

My Comment on an article "It's 2016, and 'Parched' (movie) actress Tannishtha Chatterjee gets hit by 'dark skin' slur on TV show" published in the economictimes.com Dated 29/09/2016.

"In my opinion, she should have acted more bravely instead of leaving the show with hurt feelings.

Tannishtha could have tried to hide/protect her feelings and emerged with some humor and at the same time, could have silenced such hurting comments of those people, thereby emerging as a crusader of racism, winning the hearts of all such victims."

A Comment on Uri Attack and our PM Narendra Modi's faith in the Army

My Comment on an article "Uri Attack: PM Narendra Modi likens anger to 1965, reposed faith in Army" published in the economictimes.com Dated 25/09/2016.

"All of us express our solidarity and faith in our Army and in our Government in their determinations of dealing sternly with Pakistan and terrorists.

While most of us want to reply the blow with a more severe blow as a lesson to the traitors, I do not support that war is the only solution.

We should use other peaceful weapons to demoralise them in the entire world and weaken their strength and supports."

A Comment on the need for spending less to add to the resources and growth of economy

My Comment on an article "Don't hurt Modi this Diwali. Go slow on your festive shopping" published in the economictimes.com Dated 23/09/2016.

"This is a very intelligent article with good research. I agree with this formula of spending less and strengthening investments to develop our country's economy rather than increase spending and production levels.

I always preach people to spend less and save more for the future not only for one's own self but also for the entire benefit of future generations. Spending less implies goods are carefully consumed which in result means curtailing large-scale dumping of stocks. It controls production and thereby our resources are saved to meet the needs of future generations to come."

A Comment on Airtel services and their competition with Reliance Jio

My Comment on an article "Jio (Reliance) tough rival but Airtel well prepared to take it on" published in the economictimes.com Dated 20/09/2016.

"Airtel is a good service provider. But, there are some flaws in its services.

They should ensure that no tower problems are there. Still, many places suffer from distantly located towers which could not catch the signals quickly and properly.

Airtel competitors take advantage of this weakness at those places to lure the customers."

A Comment on a young lady's letter to PM Modi restoring power in a UP village

My Comment on an article "23-year-old's letter to Modi restores power in a U.P. village after 11 years" published in the economictimes.com Dated 15/09/2016 at 11:15 am.

"A brave girl. She is an example to all of us.

If you are sincere in solving any problem and take the lead, you will certainly receive some support and help from any one of those corners.

But, you need to take the first step instead of simply wailing and complaining at people and circumstances.

Bravo and Congrats young girl! I salute to you."

A Comment on some people and elements behaving madly and damaging public life

Your comment on the article ''Cauvery protests: Petrol bombs hurled at Chennai hotel'' is now displayed on timesofindia.com Dated 12/09/2016 at 1 15 pm.

''Why do people go mad at all such events?

What has the public to do in these disputes between Governments? Why should the public bear the brunt on all such occasions?

What is the sin or crime committed by the Hotel management or staff simply because it happened to be owned by a Kannadiga?

Or the sin committed by that Tamilian who is patriotic and tweets in favor of his state?

They have not done any criminal act or caused damage to property or the lives of others like these mad people damaging buses and burning public property.''

A Comment on China and Pakistan engaging in building an economic corridor in PoK region

My Comment on an article "China may not be interested in taking sides on Kashmir: Media" published in the economictimes.com Dated 16/08/2016 at 10:55 pm.

"It is somewhat an alarming situation if the economic corridor is developed by these two nations of China and Pakistan in the PoK (Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir) region. China should not help or assist Pakistan in going through this project. They can't bring breaches in the centuries-old relations between India and China through such provocative acts of aiding Pakistan, violations of LOC agreements, or creation of tensions in South China Sea waters, etc.

Regarding the hopes of arriving at some solution to the PoK region through mutual negotiations with Pakistan, Pakistan will never succumb the region to India or agree for some more tangible solution to the issue."

A Comment relating to Meditation Posture and practice

My Comment on a slide show, showcasing five easy ways to meditate- "5 ways to meditate with ease" published in the economictimes.com Dated 12/08/2016 at 5:45 pm.

"Very useful and good advice for meditation.

One need not sit early in the morning or in a cross-legged position compulsorily.

You can fix your own time and your own pose or posture for practising meditation.

But don't skip your other duties.

You may do it sitting in a chair or on your bed also, whichever suits you most comfortable."

A comment on a first ever air plane being developed by a pilot indigenously and independently

My Comment on an article "First Plane to be made in India may fly out of Maharashtra" published in the economictimes.com Dated 10/08/2016 at 5 pm.

"It is really a very good news to see that we can build a plane independently and that too so much economically.

Wish him good luck in his plans and achievements. Our governments should support such more and more people of talents by giving encouragement and financial aid so as to develop indigenous skills."

Impact of the Goods & Services Tax on the price structure

My Comment on an article "How GST is going to impact the prices" published in the economictimes.com Dated 04/08/2016.

"It is really a good news for all people.

The Rajya Sabha has passed the bill with 100% vote. So, we can expect that it will be implemented as soon as possible.

The common man, as well as all classes of people, will benefit from it. The prices can get cheaper by Rs.25 for every Rs. 100 paid if it is applied rationally and reasonably."

A Comment on Automation to replace entry and mid-level IT staff

My Comment on an article "Automation to replace lakhs of entry and mid-level IT executives: TV Mohandas Pai" published in the economictimes.com Dated 02/08/2016 at 4:50 pm.

"I don't understand his point.

When fresh graduates are not going to be hired, from where do they gain experience? And how can you create a pool of experienced people for higher profiles without providing them a chance to gain experience?

It makes no sense. You know, your senior executives will be gradually retiring and you have to keep a pool of experienced talent or hire freshers."

A Comment on PV Narasimha Rao's contribution to Indian economy

My Comment on an article "25 years of reforms: How a PM with zero knowledge of economics scripted India's biggest turnaround story" published in the economics.com Dated 23/06/2016 at 4:30 pm.

"This article is a worthy tribute to that great personality, Mr.P.V.Narasimha Rao who, as a PM during the year 1991, kickstarted liberalization of Indian economic policy which laid the path for growth of our economy with reforms.

He was a veteran congressman and had much insight, even though not of economic background. He acted swiftly with the help of Manmohan Singh, the then FM, to save the Indian economy from its worst situation during his tenure."

A Comment on Indian youth preferring RBI, SBI bank jobs over Facebook or Microsoft

My Comment on an article "India's youth prefer RBI, SBI over Facebook, Microsoft" published in the economic.com Dated 11/07/2016 at 4:40 pm.

"I admit that working in a Bank is considered as a pride and a good social status for the people.

Only thing is they get deprived of enjoying a good family life at some occasions."

A Comment on FM lamenting at higher interest rates provided by Banks on savings schemes

My Comment on an article "Finance Minister Arun Jaitley questions high-interest rates on savings" published in the economictimes.com Dated 10/07/2016 at 12:50 pm.

"There is no doubt that progress of our economy as a whole is more important.

But lending should consider it a top priority to provide assistance to small businesses and middle class/ poorer sections of the economy at reasonable rates.

Other institutions and industries earning huge profits can be charged at higher interest rates. You can procure funds through these means and through the proper collection of Taxes that are being evaded by many people."

A Comment on holding social media platforms responsible for content hosted by them

My Comment on an article "New GST Bill will hold Facebook, Twitter responsible for hosted content: IAMAI" published in the economictimes.com Dated 28/06/2016 at 10:50 pm.

"There should be some intermediary solution to this problem of holding social media platforms fully responsible for the content hosted by them.

These platforms can not monitor and check each and every item they are hosting. It is practically impossible.

You can't torture these free hosting sites like this and deprive the people of the rights and facilities enjoyed by them due to the free services these platforms offer."

A Comment on a Chinese paper depicting Indians as having low morals and spoilt

My Comment on an article "Indians self-centered, spoilt, have low morals and blindly follow West: Chinese paper" published in economictimes.com Dated 28/06/2016 at 10:40 pm.

"Before talking about India, they should look at their own morality and ethics.

They break all international laws in supporting Pakistan and others.

They are spread all over India doing their various businesses and tell Indians should not leave India! One rule for themselves and another for India?

The only thing is they are afraid India will become powerful. So, they are trying all means to demoralize India and Indians."

A Comment on withdrawal of PAN and shaming the names of Tax defaulters through media

My Comment on an article "I -T department to block PAN, LPG subsidy of tax defaulters" published in the economictimes.com Dated 21/06/2016 at 12:30 pm.

"Some of these can be good measures to make the defaulters shell their tax dues.

Withdrawal of subsidy may not be so much effective in preventing defaulters as subsidy on LPG is very nominal since last year.

But the withdrawal of PAN, rejection of the loans, shaming their reputation publicly by putting the defaulter names on the internet and on TV and newspapers and many similar tactics can be introduced to teach them lessons."

A Comment on possibility of building Andhra Pradesh new capital Amaravati in 10 years

My Comment on an article "Chandrababu Naidu's smart capital Amaravati will not be made in a day or in 10 years" published in the economictimes.com Dated 12/06/2016 at 5:20 pm.

"I wish this could be possible within the time limit of 10 years.

The administration and staff should cooperate with the CM and support the cause of building a great capital for Andhra Pradesh to make it famous around the world. It will be for their own benefit if their state develops.

The central government should aid the state in solving their problems by providing financial support and moral support so that they can construct the new capital within the promised time period of 10 years."

A Comment on why investors look at safer investments like bank FD or KVP

My Comment on an article "What your bank FD, KVP can do in 8 years, these stocks did in 3 years" published in economictimes.com on 12/06/2016 at 4:50 pm.

"Nifty or NSE, stocks are always a good bet than FDs and KVPs. But,they involve great risks as well.

It can, sometimes, turn out to be gambling with more zeal.
Investors need to be smart and proficient and possess the capacity to bear in case of losses.

That's why most people look at safer means of investment rather than bear a loss."

A Comment on India reaching the stage of No-Power-Deficit in 2016-17

My Comment on an article "For the first time in history, India will not have power deficit situation in FY 17" published in the economictimes.com Dated 05/06/2016.

"It is a good news if it is reliable.

Surplus regions can supply power to the other places that are in shortage of power so that every town and village gets power. But, you should access the correct position of every village and town and not rely only on the data collected from cities. Because sample surveys may lead to a wrong assessment of the position."

A Comment on the impact of smoking 5 cigarettes per day on your Finance and health

My Comment on an article "5 cigarettes a day would cost you more than Rs. One crore by the time you hit 60" published in the economictimes.com Dated 31/05/2016.

"This is one horrible revelation! Too much unbearable and bitter truth. See how the author has calculate the costs very smartly to show you the burden that you are unknowingly imposing on your self and your family. Burning out Rs.1 crore is too much foolishness and it shows your irresponsiblity also.

One should realise this naked reality of the effects of cigarette smoking and the damage it does both financially and physically / mentally on his life and also on his surrounding people.

Better try to quit cigarettes as early as possible."

A Comment on New tax changes that apply from 1st June, 2016

"It is some relief and some pain. The Krishi Kalyan cess of .5% added to Service Tax making it now a total of 15% and the new tax of 1% imposed on Cars costing above Rs.10 lacs with effect from 1st June are pinching to your pocket.

Now, you should think over twice while going to purchase luxury cars, or while utilising services that attract service tax.

But, the withdrawal of tax on purchases of jewellery up to Rs.5 lacs is a relief to people who may have to buy jewellery for marriage purposes, etc.

Further, the limit of PF withdrawals with no TDS has been raised from Rs.30,000 to Rs.50,000 wef. 1st June."

A Comment on unknown facts of tax reliefs for home loans under Section 24 and 80C

My Comment on an article "Six things about home loan tax incentives you didn't know" published in the economictimes.com Dated 24/05/2016 at 3 pm.

"Very useful information provided in this article by the author.

The differences between deductions allowed under Section 24 and Section 80C have been clearly mentioned.

Most of us do not know that tax relief is allowed on interest payments and consultancy or other fees paid for borrowings made even for the repairs and reconstruction of our homes.

The main points underlined are:

  • You can claim tax benefit for interest accrued for the full year even though you skipped some EMIs.
  • Processing fees and other charges incurred in getting the loan are also tax deductible.
  • Loans obtained from friends and relatives are also tax deductible if taken for home loan purpose.
  • Loan principal repayments during the pre-construction period can not be claimed for tax relief. But interest part of those EMIs can be claimed for tax relief during subsequent 5 years after possession of the house.
  • If it is a joint loan, one should be a co-borrower along with being a co-owner of the house for enjoying the tax reliefs.

A Comment on a news report terming Tamils as sycophants who grab freebies, but vote out incumbents

My Comment on an article "Tamils always lap up freebies and vote incumbents out. Here's how Jaya bucked the trend" published in the economictimes.com Dated 21/05/2016 at 4:30 pm.

"I do not agree with the author's remark that Tamils are sycophants.

It is not sycophancy, they are, rather, true ideal worshippers of their leaders who are honest in their intentions to provide the poor common man at least some basic necessities that are essential for their living.

Their leaders are much sensible and generous in caring for their general public. So, the public also tries to treat them with some love and devotion."

A Comment on Public Sector Banks reporting losses

My Comment on an article "PSBs in deep waters! Nine banks report net losses of Rs.14,000 crore so far" published in the economictimes.com Dated 20/05/2016 at 5 pm.

"I think that PSUs should be allowed to get partnered with the private sector by making them joint-sector banks. This will induce more control on the assets and functionings of these banks and thereby keep them more balanced."

A Comment on Global Banks opting out or streamlining their businesses

My Comment on an article  "Why Global Banks are opting out of India or streamlining their businesses?" published in the economictimes.com Dated 20/05/2016 at 5 pm.

"The position is becoming more and more deteriorating in the banking business.

I think banking business has become somewhat like a business with no serious control and responsibility on the part of the administrators. Look at the losses being reported by many of the PSU banks when they are strictly ordered to project the actual position. It shows that all these banks have been floating on imaginary profits till now.

The global banks will never like to be involved in such a deteriorating atmosphere. Further, many regulations have been imposed on global businesses by our laws.Hence, they would definitely try to restrict their activities from incurring losses or tarnishing their image.

So, who will think of investing in such elusive and restrictive atmosphere of Indian market?"

A Comment on Modi Sarkar's efforts in securing economic recovery

My Comment on an article "Modi Sarkar@2: PM Modi's sound and sensible plan could lead to economic recovery"

"His government has done some good work for the benefits of rural and poor man. Our country's economy has also been stabilised to a certain extent.

His image has grown among foreign countries after he became the PM because of his developmental works and foreign policy."

My further comment on a reader's objection to my point

"Our government can't bear subsidies or tax reliefs anymore. They have to balance the budget.

Prices are controlled by the market. People should refrain from excess consumption so that demand for commodities comes down. Then only we can force the sellers to decrease prices.

Service Tax is essential as it generates revenue for other public works."

A comment on Infosys outperforming Cognizant

My Comment on an article "Sikka's Infosys looks set to outdo D'Souza's Cognizant after 13 years" published in the economictimes.com Dated 14/05/2016.

"That's a great news and will be much exciting for Infy people if it becomes real.

Infosys people are becoming more smart and competent recently and their sincere efforts have become fruitful.

It is a team effort as a whole and should not be credited to Sikka's account alone.

People at Cognizant ( a small portion of them) have become somewhat overconfident and let things go on their own way, which must be a reason for their downgrade. Further, it is a very vast organisation and full supervision is not possible at all levels."

A Comment on introduction of Geospatial bill curbing usage of Maps and GPS apps

My Comment on an article "Geospatial bill will impact tech giants like Google, Uber as well as Indians using GPS-enabled smartphones" published in the economicetimes.com Dated 11/05/2016 at 6 pm.

"I hope this step is being taken by our governments in the interest of our country's security.

People should stop sharing everything on the internet publicly. It can be of much risky for our security.

But, our government should also consider other options of allowing people who want to track their path on journeys with the help of GPS. Tourists and all service providers should be able to reach their destinations without any problems."
